About the role

The Land Manager is responsible for managing a program of projects, implementing project plans, and coordinating multiple project managers to ensure consistent messaging across projects. This role operates at a higher organizational level and requires strong leadership, collaboration, and management skills aligned with TRC’s core values. The ideal candidate is regionally located to report regularly into client offices. This role reports directly to the Land Director.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate directly with the Client Representative and the Director, Field Services to report Land progress, outlining problems and possible resolutions to pertinent issues impeding project completion.
  • Create and manage project budgets, reforecast monthly, and manage to budgets.
  • Oversee a portfolio of projects, ensuring consistent messaging to all stakeholders.
  • Utilize TRC and client technology to effectively manage projects.
  • Conduct risk assessment, mitigation, and develop corrective action plans; perform regular risk analysis.
  • Review Land requirements and develop a written Execution Plan for implementation.
  • Orient all Land personnel assigned to the project, covering planning, schedules, policies, guidelines, procedures, safety, emergency response, and quality assurance.
  • Assign tasks to Land personnel, explain documentation requirements, and provide forms for proper completion, distribution, and timing.
  • Monitor personnel performance, documentation completion, conduct, and work ethics; provide guidance, coaching, motivation, or discipline as necessary.
  • Approve all Land personnel time and expenses.
  • Monitor overall Land tasks for compliance with project requirements; identify changes in work scope, schedule, or budget variances.
  • Implement and document actions to incorporate work changes while maintaining progress schedules and budgeted costs.
  • Provide guidance and supervision to project land staff, including survey, title, acquisition, document and administrative staff, non-environmental permitting, and construction support.
  • Report progress to the client via daily, weekly, and monthly status reports.
  • Release assigned personnel upon completion of duties and responsibilities.
  • Complete a Personnel Performance Evaluation form for all Land personnel at the end of their assignment.
  • Perform complex negotiations and other job responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field (preferred).
  • At least 6 years of project management experience.
  • PMP certification (preferred).
  • Local candidates preferred.

Physical, Environmental, and Mental Requirements

  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds; use good judgment and seek assistance or wear back support when appropriate.
  • Ability to walk long distances over varying terrains to support land acquisition needs.
  • Specific vision abilities required, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus for computer monitor use and manual tasks.
  • While performing duties, the employee is required to sit, use hands and fingers to handle objects/tools/controls, reach with hands and arms, hear, and talk. Standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, or crouching may also be required.
  • Ability to travel as dictated by job requirements, including work indoors and outdoors in varying climates.
  • Work performed at field locations, governmental agencies, corporate entities, and client offices with frequent interruptions for impromptu meetings.

Pay

Salary Range: USD $79,040.00 – USD $84,500.00 per year.
