Job Summary

Montgomery County Parks, Enterprise Division, seeks dynamic, energetic, and fun Seasonal Intermittent applicants for various positions at Black Hill Boats and Lake Needwood Boats. Positions are available at both facilities, which are open weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays. They are closed during the winter months (October - April).

Important Duties

  • Boat Dock Hand: Provide assistance to children and adults boarding and exiting various vessels, clean and maintain boats, life jackets, equipment, docks, and grounds. Perform general administrative tasks such as cash handling, sales, answering phones, and office work. May work outside for up to eight hours per day.

  • Boat Shop Manager on Duty: Assist Facility Manager with managing and operating a boat rental facility. Supervise staff, manage schedules, and handle cash and custodial maintenance. Prepare cash reports and bank deposits. Operate patrol boat and notify Manager of needs.

  • Pontoon Tour Operator: Operate weekend public pontoon tours and assist Manager on Duty with facility management. Supervise staff, handle cash, and perform custodial maintenance. Must have boat operating experience and complete a Boaters Safety Certificate Course within two weeks of hire.

Qualifications

  • Weekend work is required.
  • Ability to complete a Boaters Safety Certificate Course within two weeks of hire.
  • Minimum age varies by position: 16 for Boat Dock Hand, 18 for Boat Shop Manager on Duty and Pontoon Tour Operator.
  • Boat operating experience (including motorboats) is preferred for Pontoon Tour Operator.

Supplemental Information

  • May be subject to medical, drug, and alcohol testing.
  • Positions are seasonal (part-time) and do not include benefits.
  • Pay rates are based on experience and qualifications.
  • Availability to work Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Labor Day strongly preferred.
  • Applicant’s ages 16-17 require a work permit.
  • A complete background investigation will be conducted prior to hire.
