About the role
The individual is responsible for monitoring and inspecting the ladle refractory and maintaining the ladle slide gates and porous plug system.
Responsibilities
- Participate in the CMC Safety Programs and proactively uphold the CMC Safety Culture
- Use oxygen lance to lance open ladle when needed
- Inspects slide gate system - hardware and refractories
- Changes parts as directed
- Cleans ladles
- Affixes to assist others when needed or requested (ladle furnace operator, crane operator, etc)
- Effectively communicates with others about possible production issues, concerns, and needs
- Ensures equipment inspection reports are filled out each shift
- Performs minor/routine maintenance or repairs as needed without the assistance of maintenance personnel
- Responsible for continuous improvement such as suggesting improvements in work methods and procedures
- Responsible for daily housekeeping duties including but not limited to immediate work area
- Troubleshoots work related problems using job knowledge, experience, and by communicating with others
- Ensures tasks and activities directed by Operations Support Management are completed safely and on time
- Stays alert to unsafe conditions and reports them immediately
Requirements
- Basic computer skills
- Dependability in attendance, work completion, and flexibility to meet business needs
- Must be able to learn quickly and multitask
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to work overtime when required
- Ability to work as a team player in a fast-paced environment with strong work ethic, attention to detail, and organizational skills
- Ability to work with exposure to extreme temperatures, chemicals, dust, fumes, mists, uneven surfaces, loud noise, elevated work areas, and confined spaces
- Ability to work a rotating shift, including weekends and holidays
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
