Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
- Operates various machines within the cell
- Makes minor adjustments as necessary or notify Lead person or Set up person if a more significant adjustment is required
- Maintains a clean machine and organized work area
- Performs preventative maintenance including lubricating machines when needed
- Makes minor repairs and notifies maintenance for other maintenance needs
- Performs a variety of tasks such as counting, cleaning, returning gauges and fixtures, and transferring of parts
- Uses measuring equipment to maintain close tolerances
- Fulfills schedules and procedures
- Adapts to cell and team concepts as well as cross-training
- Serves as a safety monitor, ensuring all safety guards are in place and in good condition
- Aids other operators if necessary
- Inspects work in progress, using equipment necessary and outlined in Quality or Work Instructions
- Ensures the quality of own work
- Forklift (i.e., powered industrial truck) operation
- Performs all other duties as assigned
Skills & Competencies
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, specification sheets, and / or mechanical drawings and in precision measurement or becomes proficient through training
- Computer literacy
- Capable of using measuring instruments, i.e., micrometer, calipers, height gauge, etc.
- Capable of using hand tools (i.e., screwdriver, wrenches, etc.)
- Ability to read and write, perform basic arithmetic and follow verbal and written instructions
Education & Experience
- Minimum five (5) years of experience operating production machinery in a manufacturing or production environment
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and hear
- The employee is frequently required to walk; reach with hands / arms; lift and / or lower; push and / or pull; and use hands to finger, handle, feel, and / or finely manipulate objects
- The employee must frequently lift / move and / or push / pull up to 20 lbs. and occasionally lift / move and / or push / pull up to 50 lbs.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
- Use of vision correction is acceptable, if necessary; however, any vision correction apparatus must meet all safety guidelines for the area of activity
