Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
  • Operates various machines within the cell
  • Makes minor adjustments as necessary or notify Lead person or Set up person if a more significant adjustment is required
  • Maintains a clean machine and organized work area
  • Performs preventative maintenance including lubricating machines when needed
  • Makes minor repairs and notifies maintenance for other maintenance needs
  • Performs a variety of tasks such as counting, cleaning, returning gauges and fixtures, and transferring of parts
  • Uses measuring equipment to maintain close tolerances
  • Fulfills schedules and procedures
  • Adapts to cell and team concepts as well as cross-training
  • Serves as a safety monitor, ensuring all safety guards are in place and in good condition
  • Aids other operators if necessary
  • Inspects work in progress, using equipment necessary and outlined in Quality or Work Instructions
  • Ensures the quality of own work
  • Forklift (i.e., powered industrial truck) operation
  • Performs all other duties as assigned

Skills & Competencies

  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, specification sheets, and / or mechanical drawings and in precision measurement or becomes proficient through training
  • Computer literacy
  • Capable of using measuring instruments, i.e., micrometer, calipers, height gauge, etc.
  • Capable of using hand tools (i.e., screwdriver, wrenches, etc.)
  • Ability to read and write, perform basic arithmetic and follow verbal and written instructions

Education & Experience

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience operating production machinery in a manufacturing or production environment
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and hear
  • The employee is frequently required to walk; reach with hands / arms; lift and / or lower; push and / or pull; and use hands to finger, handle, feel, and / or finely manipulate objects
  • The employee must frequently lift / move and / or push / pull up to 20 lbs. and occasionally lift / move and / or push / pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  • Use of vision correction is acceptable, if necessary; however, any vision correction apparatus must meet all safety guidelines for the area of activity
