Laboratory Technician I - Sample Receiving

A Day in the Life
- Receives environmental samples into the laboratory according to Onterris SOPs
- Performs data entry of sample and test information into Laboratory Information System (LIMS)
- Labels sample containers, store them in appropriate locations and/or contact the proper department to inform them of short holding time and/or rush requests
- Assists in sample bottle preparation
- Assists in sample management/archiving and disposal
- Assists in sample pickup or field sampling, if needed
- Assists in the coordination of daily field sampling/pickup schedule, if needed
- Participates in focus teams to improve efficiency
- Comply with Onterris Quality Assurance Program and Health & Safety Plan
- Other duties as assigned
Compensation and Schedule
The compensation range for this role is $18.00 to $20.00, commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location. Schedule: Monday - Friday with occasional overtime.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Associate’s degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic/vocational qualifications preferred
- Some lab experience is preferred but not required
- Must pass screen drug testing
- Proficient in computers and database software
- Knowledge of general lab practices and lab safety
- Able to multi-task and communicate effectively (both oral and written)
- Able to work independently and make sound decisions
- Well organized and have an attention to detail

Work Environment and Physical Requirements
- Sitting, standing, and walking
- Lifting 50 pounds several times a day
- Overhead lifting of over 20 pounds
- Works in an office environment
- May be exposed to hot and cold environments
- May occasionally work shifts up to 12 hours in duration
