Sample Receiving Technician

About the role

We are seeking a Sample Receiving Technician at 2057 Builders Place, Columbus, OH 43204 USA. This position is a lead and subject matter expert in the Sample Receiving area, supporting the smooth transition of the lab workflow involving sample reception and processing.

Responsibilities

• Supports the Sample Receiving department by addressing technical training needs and questions on documentation and procedures.
• Improves time management within the department and discusses methods with supervisors/Managers.
• Trains new Sample Receiving Technicians on sample and receiving log-in processing procedures, including computer systems entry and shipping procedures.
• Logs-in samples in the LIMS system and assists in re-keying samples such as re-testing, correcting worksheets and work-orders, and reprinting worksheets.
• Communicates with internal and external clients by phone to address sample issues and answer follow-up questions.
• Schedules lab assignments when the supervisor/lead is unavailable.
• Ensures all samples are accounted for at the end of the day and follows up on any issues identified.
• Aids the supervisor/lead in tracking and monitoring errors and ensuring "on hold" sample projects are properly processed.
• Creates, investigates, and resolves CCNC independently, seeking guidance from leadership when necessary.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent with at least 2 years of experience in a laboratory setting, including knowledge of safety procedures and policies.
• Associates degree or equivalent work experience preferred, especially in Receiving departments.
• Proven experience with data entry and clerical skills.
• Advanced interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Experience with client service is a plus.
