About the Role

As a Registered Nurse in the Women’s RN Resource Float Pool, you will perform direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act. This role involves utilizing therapeutic communication, maintaining a safe therapeutic environment, and identifying nursing problems to meet individual patient needs. You will plan individualized patient care using an interdisciplinary approach, participate in performance improvement activities, and coordinate care that aligns with the hospital’s mission and vision. When acting as charge nurse, you will oversee day-to-day activities, make staff assignments based on patient needs and staff skills, serve as a clinical resource, and respond to requests for information or follow-up with physicians, staff, or patient issues.

This position will float to Labor & Delivery, Mother/Baby, High Risk OB, and OB/GYN ER.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation) to provide individualized, holistic care for perinatal, postnatal, and GYN patients and their families.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment, and care appropriate to the ages of patients served.
  • Provide care with expertise in pregnancy, labor, birth, and associated complications, as well as GYN complications.
  • Deliver care with respect to individual spiritual and cultural needs.
  • Demonstrate competency in peri-operative care and PACU recovery for perinatal patients.
  • Integrate various methods of patient care documentation.
  • Provide patient education and document understanding.
  • Demonstrate competency in fetal monitoring.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.
  • Current TN RN licensure.
  • American Heart Association BLS certification.
  • Current ACLS & PALS certification or obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • Current NRP certification or obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • Current AWHONN fetal monitoring certification or obtain within 1 year of hire, or Certified Electronic Fetal Monitoring (CEFM) after eligibility.
  • 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience preferred.
  • Must have experience in at least 2 of the following areas: L&D, Mother/Baby, High Risk OB/GYN, or ER.
