Nurse RN - Float Pool | Labor and Delivery | FT

About the Role

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process and standards of practice for a professional nurse. The RN performs all staff nurse activities and functions as charge nurse when assigned. The RN maintains overall accountability and responsibility for assigned patients, even when some activities or tasks are delegated to Technical Nurses, Patient Care Associates, and/or Sitters. Assignments are performed appropriately to the age and developmental level of patients being served. The Float RN will float to various areas to care for med-surg/progressive care patients.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process and standards of practice.
• Perform all staff nurse activities and function as charge nurse when assigned.
• Maintain overall accountability and responsibility for assigned patients, including delegated tasks.
• Perform assignments appropriate to the age and developmental level of patients.
• Float to various areas to care for med-surg/progressive care patients as required.

Requirements

• Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing.
• New hires effective June 14, 2017, must have a BSN degree within three (3) years of hire or transfer into the position.
• Current employees hired or transferred into the position prior to August 1, 2013, are grandfathered.
• Licensed to practice nursing in the state of Florida.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association is required.
• ACLS certification from the American Heart Association is required at hire or transfer for specific departments (Cardiac Holding Area, CVICU, MICU, PICU, North Pre Op/PACU, and Trauma Center) or within six (6) months for others (3 ICU-North, 5N CCU, Cardiac Rehab, Non-Invasive Cardiology North, Noninvasive Cardiac Lab, and Progressive RNs in Intensive Care Units).
• PALS certification from the American Heart Association is required within six (6) months for PICU and Trauma Center.
• Crisis Prevention Institute training within ninety (90) days, and then annually, is required for the Psych Unit.
• Less than one year of related experience (preferred: one year of clinical experience).
