Float Nurse - Labor and Delivery

About the role

Registered Nurse responsible for providing direct patient care within the scope of practice, utilizing therapeutic communication, and maintaining a safe environment. The role involves floating across Labor & Delivery, Mother/Baby, High Risk OB, and OB/GYN ER.

Responsibilities

• Assessing patient needs and planning individualized care
• Participating in performance improvement activities
• Serving as a clinical resource for staff and responding to staff and physician requests
• Performing fetal monitoring, peri-operative care, PACU recovery, and patient education

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program
• Current Tennessee RN license
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, and fetal monitoring (or must obtain within specified timeframes)
• At least 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience
• Proficiency in at least 2 related areas within the scope of practice

• Knowledge of human development and obstetric care
• Cultural sensitivity and therapeutic communication
• Competency in fetal monitoring, peri-operative care, and PACU recovery
• Documentation and patient education skills
