About the role
Women's RN Resource positions will float to Labor & Delivery, Mother/Baby, High Risk OB, and OB/GYN ER.
Responsibilities
- Utilize the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation to individualize holistic care to meet the needs of perinatal, postnatal and GYN patients and their families
- Demonstrate knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment, and care of patients appropriate to the ages of patients served
- Provide care demonstrating knowledge of pregnancy, labor and birth with associated complications
- Provide care demonstrating knowledge of GYN complications
- Deliver care with respect to individual's spiritual and cultural needs
- Demonstrate competency in peri-operative care
- Demonstrate competency with PACU recovery for perinatal patients
- Integrate the various methods of patient care documentation
- Provide patient education and documentation of understanding
- Demonstrate competency in fetal monitoring
- Perform direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act
- Utilize therapeutic communication in daily practice
- Maintain a safe therapeutic environment
- Identify nursing problems as they relate to the individual needs of the patient
- Plan individualized patient care utilizing an interdisciplinary approach
- Participate in performance improvement activities
- Provide care and coordinate participation that fosters the goals of the hospital's mission and vision statement
- When acting in charge nurse role: make staff assignments based on patient need and the skill of the staff; serve as role models and clinical resource for the staff; respond in a timely manner to requests for information or follow-up with physician, staff or patient issues
Qualifications
- Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing
- Current TN RN licensure
- American Heart Association BLS certification
- Current ACLS & PALS certification or within 6 months of hire
- Current NRP certifications or within 6 months of hire
- Current AWHONN fetal monitoring Certification or within 1 year of hire or Certified Electronic Fetal Monitoring (CEFM) after eligibility
- 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
- Must have experience in at least 2 of the following areas: L&D, Mother/Baby, High Risk OB/GYN, or ER
