Float Nurse - Labor and Delivery

Role Overview

The Women's Resource Nurse provides direct patient care within the scope of practice, utilizing therapeutic communication and maintaining a safe environment. Responsibilities include assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individualized care for perinatal, postnatal, and GYN patients, while serving as a clinical resource and role model.

Key Duties

• Deliver holistic care
• Demonstrate knowledge of pregnancy, labor, complications, and fetal monitoring
• Coordinate interdisciplinary care
• Respond to staff and physician requests
• Participate in performance improvement activities
• Float to Labor & Delivery, Mother/Baby, High Risk OB, and OB/GYN ER as needed

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing school
• Current TN RN license
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, and fetal monitoring certifications (or within specified timeframes)
• At least 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience
• Proficiency in at least two of the following areas: L&D, Mother/Baby, High Risk OB/GYN, or ER
