About the Role
Under direct departmental supervision of a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) Manager, CLS Supervisor, Lead CLS, or Charge CLS, this position assists staff, management, physicians, patients/families, and visitors by performing duties including pediatric/adult phlebotomy, specimen receiving and processing, collecting nasal pharyngeal (NP) samples, waived laboratory testing, clerical/office functions, computer functions, and reception/information functions.
Responsibilities
- Performs pediatric and adult phlebotomy.
- Receives and processes laboratory specimens.
- Collects nasal pharyngeal (NP) samples.
- Performs waived laboratory testing.
- Handles clerical and office functions, including computer tasks.
- Manages reception and information functions.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Approximately three to six months of experience in a laboratory setting to understand departmental policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Proven phlebotomy skills.
- Basic computer knowledge for patient registration, test order entry, and result retrieval.
- Strong interpersonal skills to perform effectively as a team member in a dynamic environment.
- Effective communication skills to convey clinical data to physicians and other healthcare providers.
Qualifications
American Society of Clinical Pathologist (ASCP) certification in Phlebotomy preferred.
Working Conditions
Normal office environment with minimal exposure to excessive noise, dust, or temperature variations.
