The pay range is $18.00 - $25.00 per hour, inclusive of hourly base wage ($5.42) plus service charge commission. Historically, service charge earnings average $13.00 - $19.00 per hour, fluctuating seasonally. This position always earns at least the current Colorado minimum wage of $15.16 per hour.
About the role
As a Food Runner/Busser, you will provide meticulously synchronized, high-standard table service with a focus on formal etiquette, precise menu knowledge, and anticipatory guest care to match a premium establishment’s atmosphere. This role acts as a bridge between the culinary and service teams, delivering dishes with exact positioning and maintaining an immaculate dining environment without disrupting the guest experience.
Responsibilities
- Inspect every plated dish for precise visual appeal, proper portioning, accurate temperature, and correct garnishes before it leaves the pass.
- Read and organize incoming orders, calling out cues to the culinary line so hot and cold items finish together.
- Relay table modifications, severe allergies, and special guest requests clearly between the front-of-house staff and the chef de partie or executive chef.
- Control the timing of courses to match the ideal guest experience, avoiding lags or crowding between appetizers, mains, and desserts.
- Uphold strict health code regulations and maintain a spotless, organized pass area throughout service.
- Ensure complete compliance with The Broadmoor guidelines, operational procedures, safety policies, and institutional standards for excellence (Forbes Travel Guide and AAA Five-Diamond).
- Maintain a willingness to learn about The Broadmoor’s history, estate grounds, wilderness properties, culinary offerings, and retail outlets.
- Execute additional duties and responsibilities as required.
Requirements
- Minimum of a high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) equivalent.
- Previous experience in hospitality or customer service is highly preferred; an equivalent combination of relevant education and professional background will be considered.
- Deep familiarity with fine dining terminology, ingredients, plating styles, and allergy protocols.
- Ability to remain calm, authoritative, and focused in a high-stress, fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional verbal skills to command the kitchen line and direct the service team with poise.
- Capacity to stand, move quickly, and remain alert for long shifts, and lift, pull, or push up to 50 lbs. with assistance and proper safety practices.
- Highly motivated team player who connects easily with colleagues and drives results through positive energy and seamless collaboration.
