About the role

Venture Community Services provides support to individuals facing diverse challenges through a compassionate and dedicated workforce using innovative practices that encourage independence, empowerment, and opportunity. The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is responsible for advocating and supporting adults 22 and over with intellectual and developmental disabilities by empowering them to be as active in their lives as they can.

Their support needs include, but are not limited to, household maintenance, meal prep, shopping, bathing, toileting, dressing, teeth brushing, etc., so that they may always look and feel their best. The DSP may be asked to assist them to their medical appointments, banking, help them become active members of their community, attend outings, administer medications, follow Behavior Support Plans, Individual Support Plans and goals, and follow medical guidelines that are in place.

DSP workers are provided paid New Employee Orientation, paid CPR/First Aid, PABC, Defensive Driving, and Medication Administration Program (MAP), as well as program and person-specific training at the individuals’ home. The DSP must be able to safely evacuate individuals from the home in the event of an emergency. DSP workers must maintain certifications, handle job-related duties in compliance with Agency policies, and follow all DDS regulations/policies.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with household maintenance, meal preparation, and shopping
• Support personal care tasks such as bathing, toileting, dressing, and teeth brushing
• Accompany individuals to medical appointments and banking
• Help individuals become active members of their community and attend outings
• Administer medications and follow Behavior Support Plans and Individual Support Plans
• Adhere to medical guidelines and Agency policies
• Safely evacuate individuals in case of an emergency
• Maintain required certifications (CPR/First Aid, PABC, Defensive Driving, MAP)

Requirements

• High School Degree or G.E.D.
• Must be 21+ years old
• Valid driver’s license and daily use of a car on site (preferred but not required)
• Available by telephone for daily contact

Pay

$17.50 - $19.00 per hour

Schedule

• Wednesday: 3p–11p
• Thursday & Friday: 2p–11p
• Saturday: 9a–11p
• Part Time: 40 hours per week
