About the role

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) supports adults 22 and over with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Responsibilities include household maintenance, meal prep, shopping, bathing, toileting, dressing, teeth brushing, and assisting with medical appointments, banking, community activities, medication administration, following Behavior Support Plans, Individual Support Plans, and medical guidelines. Training includes paid orientation, CPR/First Aid, PABC, Defensive Driving, and MAP, as well as program-specific training.

Responsibilities

  • Advocate and support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities
  • Support with household tasks such as maintenance, meal prep, shopping, bathing, toileting, dressing, teeth brushing
  • Aid with medical appointments, banking, community activities, and medication administration
  • Follow Behavior Support Plans, Individual Support Plans, and medical guidelines
  • Safely evacuate individuals during emergencies
  • Maintain certifications and comply with agency policies and DDS regulations

Requirements

  • High School Degree or G.E.D.
  • Must be 21+ years old
  • Valid driver's license with daily use of a car on site (preferred but not required)
  • Available by telephone for daily contact
