About the role

Venture Community Services provides support to individuals facing diverse challenges through a compassionate and dedicated workforce using innovative practices that encourage independence, empowerment, and opportunity. The Direct Support Professional (DSP) advocates and supports adults 22 and over with intellectual and developmental disabilities, empowering them to be as active in their lives as possible.

Their support needs include, but are not limited to, household maintenance, meal preparation, shopping, bathing, toileting, dressing, teeth brushing, and other personal care tasks to help individuals look and feel their best. The DSP may assist with medical appointments, banking, community integration, outings, medication administration, and following Behavior Support Plans, Individual Support Plans, goals, and medical guidelines.

DSP workers receive paid New Employee Orientation, CPR/First Aid, Safety Care, Defensive Driving, and Medication Administration Program (MAP) training, as well as program- and person-specific training at the individuals’ home. The DSP must safely evacuate individuals in emergencies, maintain certifications, handle duties in compliance with agency policies, and follow all DDS regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in daily living activities (e.g., household maintenance, meal prep, shopping, personal hygiene).
  • Support individuals in attending medical appointments, banking, and community activities.
  • Administer medications and follow Behavior Support Plans, Individual Support Plans, and medical guidelines.
  • Safely evacuate individuals from the home in case of emergencies.
  • Maintain required certifications and comply with agency policies and DDS regulations.

Requirements

  • Must be 21+ with a reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience working in a residential setting with highly behavioral individuals.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write fluently in English.
  • Commitment to assisting people with disabilities to participate fully in their community.
  • Proven record of conscientious, responsible behavior (work, volunteer, or school history).
  • Ability to work as a creative, engaged, and dedicated team member.

Pay

$17.50 - $19.00 per hour (paid training included).

Schedule

Part-time: 22 hours per week.

  • Friday: 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM
  • Saturday: 8:00 AM – 10:00 PM
