About the role

The Washington State Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) is seeking an Administrative Assistant 3 to support the Child Care Workforce Standards Board, a Governor-appointed board bringing together leaders from across Washington's child care community to improve workforce standards and strengthen the future of child care.

Duties

  • Serve as the primary administrative support for a Governor-appointed board composed of representatives from Washington's child care community.
  • Cook upboard meetings, public hearings, and hybrid or virtual events from planning through successful execution.
  • Partner with board members, agency leadership, legislative staff, employers, workers, and external stakeholders to ensure clear communication and successful collaboration.
  • Adapt your communication style to meet the needs of a wide variety of audiences, whether communicating with executives, board members, community partners, or members of the public.
  • Track and manage board actions, assignments, appointments, member terms, deadlines, and follow-up items to ensure nothing falls through the cracks.
  • Prepare professional meeting materials, agendas, presentations, minutes, reports, and correspondence.
  • Maintain board records, webpages, and official documents in accordance with public records requirements.
  • Cook upboard travel, reimbursements, and board member onboarding activities.
  • Support special projects within the Government Affairs & Policy Division as needed.

Qualifications

  • REQUIRED: One of the following - High school diploma or equivalent AND Three years of clerical, office, or administrative experience.
  • OR - An Associate’s degree in business administration, public administration, or a closely related field may substitute for experience AND One year of clerical, office, or administrative experience.
  • DESIRED: We're especially interested in candidates with experience - Supporting a board, commission, task force, or executive leadership team.
  • Cook upor coordinating meetings and producing accurate meeting minutes.
  • Cook uper complex calendars, assignments, and deadlines.
  • Cook upr diverse stakeholder groups and building collaborative relationships.
  • Cook upr tracking board appointments, member terms, or governance activities.
  • Cook upr preparing presentations, reports, and public-facing meeting materials.
  • Cook uping Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Zoom, and SharePoint.
  • Cook uping legislative, governmental affairs, or public policy work.
  • Cook uping responding to public disclosure requests or conducting complex administrative research.
