About the role
This position covers a portion of the state, but will primarily office out of Overland Park and will be fully in-office when not on customer visits.
Responsibilities
- Perform tasks relative to developing and retaining commercial and industrial accounts.
- Manage development of and account activities for commercial and industrial accounts including:
- Account relations / customer service
- Business and customer attraction / development
- Business retention
- Net profit management
- Analyze customer account information to handle account inquiries.
- Perform contract negotiations to attract new business and retain key accounts.
- Develop and present sales proposals or provide gas service related information to business prospects.
- Research, analyze, prepare, and monitor information including:
- Rate agreements
- Usage reports
- Tariff analysis
- Rate comparisons
- Cost analysis
Requirements
- Preferred Bachelor's Degree in business, communications, engineering, finance, or a related field.
- An equivalent combination of formal education and job-related experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
- Working knowledge of utility industry.
- Demonstrated ability to perform economic and financial project analysis.
- Experience in use and function of office equipment including computers and related software.
- Experience and training related to:
- Natural gas sales
- Business development
- Negotiation skills
- Rate and usage analysis
- Interpersonal communication skills
Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret tariffs, terms of contracts, industry publications, technical manuals, market reports, account data, and company policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to research and prepare account correspondence, rate agreements, usage reports, account analysis, and rate comparison.
- Experience interacting, advising, and communicating effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare and conduct sales meetings.
- Demonstrated ability to read and write fluently in English.
- Applicable driver's license.
- Requires travel to other company locations, and to outside meetings with customers and others.
Skills
- Ability to read and write fluently in English.
- Ability to communicate and exchange information; conduct oral presentations.
- Ability to perform algebraic equations, and general math skills.
- Ability to interact, advise, and communicate effectively.
- Ability to prepare and conduct sales meetings.
- Ability to research and prepare account correspondence, rate agreements, usage reports, account analysis, and rate comparison.
