About the role
As a Juvenile Corrections Security Officer - Entry Control in Columbia, SC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a government location. You will help manage access control, monitor assigned areas, and support a professional environment through visible presence, routine patrols, and strong communication. In this role, you will help to deter security-related incidents while delivering customer service and working as part of a team that values agility, reliability, innovation, care, and integrity.
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service by carrying out access control procedures, site-specific policies, and/or emergency response activities at a government location.
- Monitor entry and exit points, verify identification and authorization, and help to deter unauthorized access to restricted areas.
- Respond to incidents, disturbances, and/or critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, escalating concerns according to post orders.
- Document visitor, staff, and contractor activity, maintain accurate logs, and communicate security-related information to site contacts and/or Allied Universal leadership.
- Conduct regular and random patrols around the location and perimeter, observing conditions and reporting unusual activity, hazards, and/or policy violations.
Requirements
- A tuberculosis test and MMR vaccinations are required in accordance with DPSS/DHS COLA requirements.
- Possess at least 6 months of security-related experience.
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Be comfortable using a computer or tablet (preferred).
- Access control and badge experience (preferred).
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
