About the role
As a Juvenile Corrections Security Officer - Entry Desk in Columbia, SC, you will serve and safeguard clients in government locations. You will monitor access points, verify credentials, and support daily operations with professionalism and strong communication. This driving post offers the opportunity to remain visible, conduct routine patrols, and help deter security-related incidents while delivering outstanding service.
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service to visitors, staff, and/or vendors by following access control procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a government location.
- Monitor entry and exit points, verify identification and/or credentials, document visitor activity, and help to deter unauthorized access to restricted areas.
- Respond to incidents, unusual activity, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, and communicate observations to site contacts and/or Allied Universal leadership.
- Conduct regular and random patrols around the location and perimeter, noting security-related concerns, access issues, and/or policy violations for follow-up.
- Support daily operations by maintaining logs, completing required reports, and providing clear directions regarding facility rules, screening procedures, and authorized movement throughout the location.
Requirements
- A valid driver’s license is required in accordance with Allied Universal driver policy requirements.
- At least 6 months of security-related experience is required.
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
