About the role
Aids technicians in maintaining and repairing baggage handling systems and passenger boarding bridges. Assists with basic maintenance tasks, diagnoses equipment failures, and follows safety protocols.
Responsibilities
- Assists with scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and repairs
- Clears system jams, performs shift inspections, cleans, and makes electrical and mechanical adjustments
- Diagnoses equipment failures under guidance and ensures safe operation
- Reads and interprets repair manuals and supervisor instructions
- Works in confined spaces with appropriate personal protective equipment and fall protection
- Complies with company and federal policies, completes training, and maintains safety programs
- Performs additional duties as directed by management
- Assists technicians with basic maintenance tasks such as sweeping, cleaning, and greasing
- Completes safety training and obtains an airport security badge
- Communicates clearly and completes assigned training
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- At least 1 year of mechanical experience, preferably in baggage handling systems or passenger boarding bridges
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Previous mechanical experience
- Previous baggage handling or passenger boarding bridge experience
- Ability to pass a mechanical aptitude test
- Ability to work independently and follow company procedures
- Ability to communicate effectively and follow safety guidelines
Skills
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Ability to work safely and promote a safe work environment
