Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of ASTM Fire Stop Codes
  • Working knowledge of NFPA 101, International Building Code, and International Fire Codes pertaining to Fire Barriers and Smoke Barriers
  • Working knowledge of Passive Fire Protection components including Fire Barriers, Firestopping, Fire Dampers, Fire Rate Glazing, Fire Doors, and Hardware
  • Able to work in a team setting and work effectively with other shop personnel
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form
  • Past history of regular and punctual attendance
  • Proven behavioral traits consistent with Valley Values
  • Has basic computer skills and can utilize computers / technology as part of job
  • Proven ability to organize, manage time
  • Work experience and/or training in the following areas: Firestopping

Performance Responsibilities

  • Performs the full range of work involved in the installation, maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, modification and operational checks and testing of specialty Systems at Valley Medical Center and associated clinics
  • Maintains medical center buildings in good working order and appearance to VMC standards, using correct product application to respective surface
  • Maintains a practical knowledge of Firestop theory and design and the ability to use theoretical concepts to devise solutions for operating or repair problems on Firestopping and Fire Barrier Management
  • Performs assigned duties during drills and emergencies
  • Determines tools required and estimates necessary materials or parts needed
  • Diagnoses and locates malfunctions
  • Disassembles and repairs, replaces, services, and adjusts as required
  • Serves as a resource to coworkers learning new firestopping skills and with department operations
