IT Senior Solution Architect (Hybrid)

About the role

Develops and implements systems architecture that meets business needs. Responsibilities include gathering requirements and functional specifications, assessing current software systems to identify areas for improvement, and overseeing development teams. The role involves integrating updated specifications into systems architecture and explaining complex problems to management in accessible terms.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews business context for solutions to company challenges and defines the vision and requirements for the solution.
  • Recommends potential options (e.g., RFPs or prototype development), selects the optimal option, and develops a roadmap for implementation.
  • Communicates architecture to stakeholders and collaborates with architects and engineers to formalize IT standards and procedures.
  • Champions a structured approach to business application solutions from selection, implementation, and development perspectives.
  • Assists in developing a solutions architecture program, including roadmaps and project portfolios for IT systems architecture.
  • Ensures solutions align with technology standards and influences changes to standards when necessary.
  • Directs the identification and recommendation of solutions, upgrades, replacements, or decommissioning options based on productivity, usability, and total cost of ownership.
  • Reduces reactive work by developing and executing proactive solutions.
  • Builds and integrates information systems to meet company needs.
  • Assesses current systems architecture and recommends improvements.
  • Provides supervision and guidance to development teams.
  • Researches emerging technologies and proposes changes where needed.
  • Informs stakeholders about problems with current technical solutions.
  • Assesses the business impact of technical choices across the organization.
  • Provides updates to stakeholders on product development processes, costs, and budgets.

Technical Knowledge & Skills

  • Good understanding of Oracle Products such as Primavera, Unifier (related to Project Management, Planning, and Scheduling).
  • Familiarity with construction management solutions like ProCore and HammerTech.
  • Good understanding of Protection and Controls Engineering Systems such as Powerbase and Aspen.
  • Knowledge of Engineering Project Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools like AutoCAD Design Suite and Adept Engineering Design.
  • Good knowledge of ESRI Geographic Information System and tools such as ArcFM Editor and ArcGIS Portal.
  • Extensive knowledge of systems development and integration methodologies, and architecture standards.
  • Experience designing and developing systems architecture for medium to large-scale enterprise applications and legacy system migrations.
  • Strong knowledge of full project lifecycle management, including infrastructure assessment, n-tier distributed application development, and process improvement.
  • Collaboration with data architects, infrastructure architects, and other portfolio/program architects to align solutions with enterprise-level architecture.
  • Knowledge of business continuity, including high availability, disaster recovery, and risk management.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Microsoft Technologies, DevOps, SDLC, Azure, AWS, Cloud Infrastructure, Containers, Docker, Kubernetes.
  • Experience with Middleware Integration Platforms: Mulesoft, Informatica, webServices, microServices.
  • Knowledge of Database Platforms: Oracle, SQL Server.
  • Understanding of Operating Systems, Middleware Servers, and infrastructure components such as Windows Servers, Linux, IIS, Active Directory, LDAP, TCP/IP Networking.

Nice to have: Certification in Microsoft Azure Fundamentals or AWS. Understanding of Enterprise GIS/Spatial platforms such as ESRI or Smallworld.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education and work experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in IT Management or solutions architecture roles.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate the complexities of technical programs.

Working Conditions

  • Must be available to work emergency restoration assignments as required.
  • Must be available to travel between MA, CT, and NH as necessary.
  • Eligible for hybrid schedules with a minimum of three in-office days per week (including Tuesdays and Wednesdays). The third day is set by the employee and supervisor based on department needs.
  • Must be able to work up to five days in the office if needed (e.g., emergencies, training, or policy changes).

Pay

Annual salary range: $147,200.00 - $163,560.00. This position is eligible for a potential incentive.
