Primary Responsibilities

  • Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the state’s IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, storage, and security systems.
  • Ensure that all systems are running efficiently, securely, and in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Manage and lead a team of IT professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and support.
  • Allocate resources and assign tasks to ensure that the team is meeting objectives.
  • Plan, organize, and oversee IT projects, ensuring that they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to define project goals, create project timelines, and ensure the timely delivery of IT solutions.
  • Collaborate with other state departments and agencies to implement new technologies and improve existing systems.
  • Ensure that the state’s IT systems comply with security best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the implementation of security measures to protect the state’s data and infrastructure from cyber threats.
  • Identify and resolve issues within the state’s IT systems and infrastructure.
  • Continuously monitor and assess system performance, recommending and implementing improvements to enhance efficiency and reliability.
  • Maintain thorough documentation for all IT systems, processes, and projects.
  • Provide regular updates to senior management on the status of IT initiatives, infrastructure health, and security compliance.
  • Work closely with the state’s security team to monitor and address security risks.
  • Oversee the integration of new applications, hardware, and systems, ensuring that they are aligned with the state's operational goals and IT infrastructure.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Proven experience managing IT teams and overseeing large-scale IT projects.
  • Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, systems administration, and enterprise-level technologies.
  • Strong skills in project planning, organization, and execution.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage resources, and ensure projects are completed successfully and on time.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify areas for system improvement and propose effective solutions.
  • Knowledge of IT security best practices, including data protection, access controls, and threat mitigation.
  • Experience ensuring compliance with relevant security standards and regulations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is required, plus five (5) years of experience in IT management, including experience in system administration, project management, and team leadership.
