IT Intern

About the role

This is an on-site role. Applicants must reside in or be willing to relocate to the Lansing, MI area and commute to the office daily.

The IT Intern assists staff with support issues via phone, email, and other support systems while maintaining a high level of customer service. This position supports IT Staff with the setup and troubleshooting of computers, software, and technical diagnostics. The role also involves assisting with company phones, printers, copiers, and other office equipment, as well as learning related business aspects of the IT Department.

Responsibilities

• Provide first-level technical support to staff via phone, email, and in-person
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues
• Assist with setup and maintenance of workstations, printers, and mobile devices
• Document support requests and resolutions in the help desk system
• Support onboarding of new employees with technology setup
• Maintain inventory of IT equipment and supplies
• Collaborate with the Technology team on special projects and upgrades
• Ensure compliance with data privacy and security policies

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a college or technical program in IT, Computer Science, or related field
• Basic understanding of Windows OS, Microsoft 365, and networking concepts
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Professional demeanor and customer service mindset
• Must be able to lift and move computer equipment as needed
• Ability to process and evaluate confidential information and materials
• Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude
• Attention to detail in composing, typing, and proofreading materials
• Ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines
• Ability to productively interact with internal and external customers
