IT Infrastructure Supervisor

About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced IT infrastructure leader to oversee the systems, networks, cloud environments, and technical team that keep its operations connected and secure. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for an infrastructure professional with deep Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, networking, and security experience who can combine technical expertise with disciplined execution and team leadership.
The IT Infrastructure Supervisor leads the team and projects responsible for maintaining the company’s server, network, security, cloud, and domain infrastructure. The role is responsible for the availability, security, performance, and continuous improvement of critical IT environments, with particular emphasis on Microsoft Azure and M365. Working across infrastructure operations, cybersecurity, networking, systems administration, and project delivery, this leader provides Tier 3 technical expertise while supervising Tier 1 and Tier 2 infrastructure support.
Responsibilities
- Infrastructure & Cloud Administration
- Deploy and administer Azure virtual servers, hosted applications, virtual desktops, backups, and other cloud infrastructure.
- Build and deploy physical and virtual Cisco Meraki SD-WAN sites, Azure virtual Meraki VLANs, VPN routes, and related network infrastructure.
- Create and maintain Group Policy Objects, domain objects, security groups, registry settings, scripts, and other configurations supporting enterprise operations.
- Deploy and maintain hosted applications, SSL certificates, DNS configurations, and domain security protocols.
- Configure and test disk and virtual-machine backups to verify restore integrity and recovery readiness.
- Security, Reliability & Compliance
- Monitor performance, availability, alerts, and outages of systems supporting 24/7 operations.
- Conduct internal and external vulnerability assessments, remediate critical findings, and proactively implement measures to reduce the organization's attack surface.
- Coordinate infrastructure security updates, patches, integrations, and functionality improvements with cloud and technology service providers.
- Maintain accurate documentation of user permissions, infrastructure configurations, IT procedures, change controls, and system modifications.
- Audit user permissions, accounts, and policies, and conduct periodic security and compliance reviews, preparing findings reports and executive summaries of results.
- Technical Leadership & Project Delivery
- Lead and manage Tier 1 and Tier 2 infrastructure support teams while providing Tier 3 technical escalation and support.
- Manage multiple infrastructure initiatives, including server and application upgrades, network deployments, security improvements, and cloud projects.
- Ensure production-impacting upgrades, configuration changes, and outages comply with established change-management procedures.
- Partner with IT leadership, business stakeholders, Microsoft, and external technology providers on infrastructure planning and delivery.
- Troubleshoot domain-wide issues and inefficiencies, working with Microsoft and technology partners to develop solutions and deployment strategies consistent with industry best practice.
- Automation & Continuous Improvement
- Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts, batch scripts, scheduled tasks, and other automation supporting Windows and Azure environments.
- Administer Microsoft Teams configurations, including groups, meetings, voice capabilities, and conference-room environments.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, infrastructure improvements, and industry practices, and implement enhancements that improve security, reliability, efficiency, and cost effectiveness.
Requirements
- 15+ years of IT industry experience, including at least 5 years of systems administration experience with Azure and M365 and 5 years of network administration experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field required.
- Extensive hands-on experience with Microsoft cloud and infrastructure environments, including Azure, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, Windows 10+, and Windows Server 2019+.
- Strong experience with enterprise networking technologies, including Cisco / Meraki environments, SD-WAN, VLANs, VPNs, and network routing.
- Demonstrated experience administering company domain objects, employee network accounts, workstations, security groups, GPOs, registry settings, permissions, and scripts.
- Working knowledge of infrastructure security, vulnerability management, patching, backups, SSL certificates, access controls, and change-management practices.
- Experience with PowerShell and other scripting or automation tools used to administer and monitor Microsoft environments.
- Strong project-management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple infrastructure initiatives and operational priorities simultaneously.
- Ability to develop clear technical documentation, metrics, findings reports, and executive summaries demonstrating project outcomes and IT control effectiveness.
- Strong leadership, communication, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with a high degree of accountability and attention to detail.
- Relevant certifications in Cisco networking, cybersecurity / security administration, and cloud infrastructure are preferred.
Schedule
Primarily standard business hours, with participation in after-hours or on-call support as needed to maintain 24/7 system availability.
