About the role
The Department of Ecology is hiring an IT Business Analyst - Journey within the Information Technology Services Office (ITSO). The position is located at the Headquarters Office in Lacey, WA. Upon hire, you must live within a commutable distance from the duty station. This position is eligible for telework and flexible schedule options.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a vital link between program needs and technical solution design and implementation across the Department of Ecology.
- Collaborate with program staff, technical teams, and project leaders to analyze business processes, document system requirements, and support technology solutions that help the agency fulfill its mission.
- Engage with diverse technologies, assess system and business workflows, and translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable documentation.
- Work hands-on with activities such as gathering and refining requirements, mapping processes, analyzing data, conducting system testing, and supporting application enhancements.
- Work with new and evolving platforms, contribute to modernization efforts, and build strong working relationships across a wide range of Ecology programs.
- Gain exposure to enterprise-level applications, project initiation and delivery, and become familiar with lean practices and agile methods.
Qualifications
- Six years of experience and/or education related to the duties of the position, which includes business requirements analysis, requirements documentation & traceability, quality assurance & user acceptance testing, SDLC & agile methodologies, systems & integration analysis, critical thinking & problem solving, communication, collaboration & partner engagement.
- Education involving a major study in Computer Science, Information Technology (IT), Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM), Business Administration, or closely related field.
Desired Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree with a focus on business, information technology, project management, business analysis or related field.
- Four years of business analysis experience on IT projects that cross program or agency boundaries.
- Certification of Capability in Business Analysis (CCBA) or as a Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) through the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA).
- Agile certifications or experience.
