About the Role

This position is located in Vidor, TX. As an Ironworker General Foreman, you will lead small teams and oversee structural ironwork, rigging, and safe lifting practices on active jobsites.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of structural iron, rigging, tools, procedures, safe lifting, and best practices
  • Apply practical knowledge of structural steel assembly and installation
  • Effectively communicate with the rigging team (other riggers and crane operator)
  • Use standard crane hand signals proficiently
  • Assess weights of loads and determine equipment needed for safe lifting
  • Lead small teams and assign job duties to crew members
  • Ensure each employee is properly trained for their role
  • Serve as a safety role model for the team
  • Enforce OPD and client-specific safety policies and procedures on the jobsite
  • Anticipate and recognize potential safety and environmental concerns; report them to the OPD Superintendent
  • Provide records of work completed to the OPD Superintendent

  • Follow OPD and client safety policies and procedures
  • Stay aware of changing conditions on an active jobsite
  • Arrive on time to the jobsite each day ready for work
  • Display a positive attitude and work effectively in a team environment

Physical Demands

  • Work in outdoor weather and environmental conditions, including extreme heat, humidity, cold, and high elevations
  • Work on elevated platforms while maintaining balance on narrow surfaces such as beams and pipes
  • Perform tasks while wearing an approved full-body harness and lanyard
  • Lift and carry awkward objects up to 60 lbs
  • Stand for extended periods up to 11 hours per day, with breaks provided every 2.5 hours
  • Engage in full-body movement, including climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, crawling, twisting, reaching, and bending regularly
  • Use hands to handle, control, and feel objects and tools

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of experience as a foreman or supervisor
  • Knowledge of crane signals (hand and verbal)
  • Serve as a role model for safety
  • Follow company safety procedures and industry best work practices
  • Wear an approved full-body harness and lanyard while working on highly elevated platforms; maintain balance on narrow surfaces such as beams and pipes
  • Travel is required, with extended periods away from home in remote areas at times
  • Attend and/or lead employee safety meetings
  • Work shifts up to 12 hours per day, 7 days per week
  • Meet all physical demands of the job

Qualifications (Preferred)

  • Previous experience in a gas plant construction environment
  • At least 5 years of previous experience as an ironworker foreman
  • At least 5 years of previous experience as an ironworker
  • Previous experience leading safety initiatives
  • Previous experience leading small teams of 10-25 people

Compensation is determined by available market data, considering each candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities, and geographic location. The range provided is an estimate and may be higher or lower based on these factors.
