Investment Management and Trading Associate (New York)

About the role

Katten, a global Am Law 100 firm, seeks a highly qualified Associate to join its premier Financial Markets & Funds Department working from its New York office.

Responsibilities

• Represent asset managers, hedge funds, private equity firms and other global market participants, such as commodity pools and proprietary trading firms, at a nationally recognized law firm or in a relevant in-house role at an asset manager, hedge fund, private equity firm or similar market participant.
• Provide legal advice and counsel to clients in the investment management industry.
• Assist in drafting and negotiating complex agreements and documents related to investments and financings.
• Participate in client meetings and deal teams to provide strategic legal insights and support.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience representing asset managers, hedge funds, private equity firms and other global market participants, such as commodity pools and proprietary trading firms, at a nationally recognized law firm or in a relevant in-house role at an asset manager, hedge fund, private equity firm or similar market participant.
• Experience in investment management is required.

Qualifications

• Excellent academic credentials.
• Strong analytical and writing skills.
• A client-team focused approach is a must.

Skills

• Admission to the New York bar or immediate eligibility to waive into the New York bar.

Pay

The estimated salary range for this role is $235,000 - $365,000. Salary determinations are made based on numerous factors, such as, but not limited to experience/job history, class/graduation year, and practice area of the selected candidate.
