About the Role
This is a full-time, in-store Assistant Manager position that reports directly to the Store Manager. The Inventory Manager is responsible for managing and controlling all elements of the store inventory.
Responsibilities
- Receive all product into the store inventory, including completing receiving processes for shipments from Ace and all DSD vendors.
- Oversee, validate, and complete all inter-store transfers (inbound and outbound).
- Process all credits (Policy A/B/C) and items invoiced but not received.
- Validate all .com orders within 1 hour of receipt.
- Directly responsible for the store’s shrink (along with the Store Manager).
- Ensure data accuracy within the store system (quantity-on-hand, dollar accuracy, negative inventory, etc.).
- Maintain adequate inventory levels to minimize outages, including shooting outs weekly and managing overstock/backroom inventory.
- Manage the Computer Suggested Order process.
- Complete ACE Monthly Ad merchandise purchases.
- Process daily/weekly price changes and print/hang shelf labels.
- Update discontinued tags, identify replacement SKUs, and replace tags accordingly.
- Train store staff on inventory management best practices.
- Learn and monitor inventory management reports.
- Implement and maintain location codes.
- Monitor shrinkage and recommend ways to reduce theft and breakage in the store.
- Identify obsolete inventory and determine how to best remove it.
- Complete all cycle counts.
- Complete all Hardware Reports/Statements as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- General understanding of inventory principles and experience with retail programs.
- Understanding of the flow of merchandise in a retail environment.
- Experience in a retail environment, either in inventory, sales, or back office.
Skills
- Excellent computer skills.
- Ability to make sound decisions.
- Knowledge of retail computer systems, Microsoft Word, and Excel (a plus).
- Excellent communication skills, exceptional organizational ability, high attention to detail, and ability to multi-task.
- Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements
- Able to operate a personal computer and other electronic devices.
- Able to operate a forklift as needed.
- Able to stand for extended periods of time.
- Able to climb a ladder.
- Able to bend and twist at the waist.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Move and handle boxes of merchandise and fixtures throughout the store.
