About the role
Ridge Meadows Hospital (RMH) is seeking three physicians to join its team of nine full and part-time internists/subspecialists. The ideal candidates should be subspecialists with GIM ability, or GIM with a relevant subspecialty interest.
Responsibilities
- Provide subspecialty care and GIM services to the hospital's diverse patient population.
- Collaborate with hospitalists and other specialists for high-acuity medicine cases.
- Participate in the development and management of a rapid-access clinic.
- Assist in the expansion of the hospital's subspecialty call groups.
- Teach residents, fellows, and medical students as part of the UBC affiliation.
- Follow up with patients in the community and establish a consult practice.
Requirements
- CPSBC certification and FRCPC certification in Internal Medicine.
- CMPA coverage.
- Sufficient clinical experience in all areas of General Medicine.
- Proven skills in basic procedural tasks such as lumbar puncture, central line insertion, and chest tubes.
- Experience with point-of-care ultrasound, leadership, medical administration, and teaching.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine degree.
- Current registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC).
- Board certification in Internal Medicine (FRCPC).
- Membership in the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA).

Benefits
The position offers fee-for-service compensation, with the possibility of a permanent staff appointment after a provisional period of one year.

Schedule
Daytime coverage is currently provided by two internists, with one night call every eight nights. The hospital plans to expand to three internists during the daytime, accommodating the new hires.
