About the role
Ridge Meadows Hospital (RMH) is recruiting three physicians to join its group of nine full and part-time internists/subspecialists. The successful candidates will be subspecialists with GIM ability, or GIM with a subspecialty interest relevant to RMH and/or the community.
Responsibilities
- “Most responsible physician” for the sickest patients
- Provide consultative support to hospitalists and other specialties for less acute patients
- Participate in the hospital’s strong hospitalist program, seeing a high proportion of high-acuity medicine
- Provide inpatient call/consultation, currently provided by two internists during the daytime and one at night, with daytime service in week-long blocks and night call approximately one night in eight
- Expand to three internists during the daytime with the support of the recruitment
- Support the development of a rapid-access clinic, with the clinic’s functioning contingent upon the recruitment of internists
- Provide assistance and consultation to other internists as needed
- Follow up with patients in the community and open a practice for consult services
Requirements
- CPSBC certification
- FRCPC certification in Internal Medicine
- CMPA coverage
- Sufficient clinical experience in all areas of General Medicine
- Proven skills in basic procedural tasks such as lumbar puncture, central line insertion, and chest tubes
- Experience and demonstrated skills in point-of-care ultrasound, leadership, medical administration, and teaching (considered an asset)
Qualifications
- Subspecialist with GIM ability, or GIM with a subspecialty interest relevant to RMH and/or the community
- Strong commitment to teaching residents, fellows, and 4th year medical students
- Ability to follow up with patients in the community and open a practice for consult services
Skills
- Proven skills in basic procedural tasks such as lumbar puncture, central line insertion, and chest tubes
- Experience and demonstrated skills in point-of-care ultrasound
- Leadership skills
- Medical administrative skills
- Teaching skills (considered an asset)

Pay
Compensation Type: Fee-for-Service
Schedule
Inpatient call/consultation is currently provided by two internists during the daytime and one at night, with daytime service in week-long blocks and night call approximately one night in eight. Appointment will be provisional for 1 year, usually followed by permanent staff appointment.
