Internal Medicine
Fantastic opportunity for a General Internal Medicine specialist to join the team at Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital in Trail. Practice in a supportive community setting with endless lifestyle opportunities.
About the role
The Internal Medicine group currently consists of 6 local internists. We provide 24/7 IM call coverage (separate from ICU coverage), cardiac risk stratification with ESTs and MIBIs, urgent IM access with the Rapid Access IM Clinic located in the hospital, and separate outpatient office work. Our ideal candidate will be a true general internist, comfortable and skilled in both inpatient and outpatient internal medicine. We can accommodate a variety of skills and competencies.
We are associated with UBC and host ICC medical students, family practice residents, and visiting UBC IM Fellows. Teaching obligations are an expectation of the position. Critical care services are covered separately and are not part of this role.
On-call requirements generally involve daytime hours, including inpatient consults at KBRH and phone support for surrounding communities. We have a robust hospitalist service, functioning primarily as a consulting service with minimal MRP duties. On-call duties are approximately 1:4 to 1:5.
A locum or elective at our site is required prior to offer to ensure mutual fit. Leadership development opportunities are available through Interior Health’s NAVIG8 Program.
