About the role

The Los Angeles County Department of Health Services (DHS) is seeking qualified candidates to fill emergency Intermediate Clerk vacancies related to the Department of Justice (DOJ) Consent Decree. Under the emergency order, applicants who meet the requirements may be hired for an initial period of up to 90 days, with an opportunity for permanent County employment.

Responsibilities

  • Performs specialized clerical duties.
  • Determines priority on requests for information and completes rush assignments.
  • Provides clerical support for assigned unit.
  • Reviews documents for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with legal and other requirements.
  • Operates office machines such as personal computer, printers, telephones, fax machines, copy machines, etc.
  • Demonstrates dependability and flexibility in meeting/scheduling needs of the unit including assignments and special projects as assigned.
  • Complies with confidentiality and security of sensitive information.
  • Orders, maintains, and organizes supplies and equipment for the use within unit.

Requirements

  • Six (6) months of office clerical experience in the service of the County of Los Angeles or in districts under the jurisdiction of the County.
  • One (1) year of office clerical experience outside the service of the County of Los Angeles.
  • A certificate or Associate of Arts degree in clerical procedures or office administration from an accredited college or university.

Qualifications

  • Physical Class II – Light: Requires light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.
