Interior Finish Technician - 1413

About the role

This position is available at West Star Aviation, a leading MRO provider with multiple facilities across the US. As an Interior Finish Technician, you will be responsible for applying finishes to aircraft interiors, including wood finishes, gloss and satin applications, and sanding.

Responsibilities

• Assist with paint and techniques for major modification projects
• Identify colors and color matches as needed
• Basic knowledge of stains, lacquers, clear coats, etc.
• Basic knowledge in chemicals (thinners, catalysts, cleaners, etc.) and safety procedures
• Knowledge of dry sanding and wet sanding, etc.
• Maintenance and repair of shop facility, equipment and tooling
• Basic computer skills to navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance databases
• Cleanliness of shop and surroundings
• Work independently when required
• Effectively and clearly communicate (i.e., speak, write, read) in English
• Perform any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management

Requirements

• A High school diploma or equivalent
• A valid drivers license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not required
• Experience: Technician I: 0-2 years, Technician II: 2-4 years, Technician III: 5+ years in wood finishing processes on aircraft
• Self-motivated and able to perform in a fast-paced environment
• Reliable transportation to get to work each and every day
• Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties
• Pass a respirator fit test

Qualifications

• Understanding and implementation of regulations and guidelines including but not limited to OSHA, Hazmat, etc.
• Work with others in a professional manner
• Read and comprehend various documents
• Plan and organize procedures and operations

Skills

• Basic knowledge of stains, lacquers, clear coats, etc.
• Basic knowledge in chemicals (thinners, catalysts, cleaners, etc.) and safety procedures
• Knowledge of dry sanding and wet sanding, etc.
• Basic computer skills to navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance databases
• Effective communication skills (speaking, writing, reading)
• Physical requirements: Lifts 50 lbs, routine walking, bending and squatting or sitting, routing or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands with emphasis on grasping, feeling and finger dexterity, standing for long periods of time, climb ladders and stairs, work in small restricted areas, pass a respirator fit test
• Mental requirements: Understanding and implementation of regulations and guidelines including but not limited to OSHA, Hazmat, etc.
