About the role

This position is available at West Star Aviation, a leading MRO provider with multiple facilities across the United States. As an Interior Finish Technician, you will be responsible for various tasks related to aircraft interior finishes.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for interior finish processes, including wood finishes of assigned aircraft, varying amounts of gloss and satin applications, and sanding of hardwood as needed.
  • Completion of aircraft interior cabinet finishes.
  • Avoidance of major modification projects by assisting with paint and techniques.
  • Identification of colors and color matches as needed.
  • Application of stains, lacquers, clear coats, and other chemicals.
  • Observance of safety procedures and maintenance of shop facility, equipment, and tooling.
  • Use of basic computer skills to navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance databases.
  • Cleaning of shop and surrounding areas.
  • Independent work when required.
  • Effective and clear communication (speaking, writing, reading).
  • Assistance in major modification work as needed.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • A valid drivers license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport (ideal but not required).
  • Experience: Technician I (0-2 years), Technician II (2-4 years), Technician III (5+ years) in wood finishing processes on aircraft.
  • Self-motivated and able to perform in a fast-paced environment.
  • Reliable transportation to work.
  • Compliance with FAA guidelines and company safety rules.
  • Customer-oriented work habits.
  • Ability to pass a respirator fit test.

Qualifications

Must have reliable transportation to work each and every day. Perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines. Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties. Maintain customer-oriented work habits. Assist in major modification work as needed.

Skills

  • Basic knowledge of stains, lacquers, clear coats, etc.
  • Basic knowledge in chemicals (thinners, catalysts, cleaners, etc.)
  • Safety procedures
  • Dry and wet sanding
  • Maintain cleanliness of shop and surroundings
  • Personal hand tools supplied by the mechanic
  • Electrical power tools such as sanders, saws, power drills, etc.
  • Spray booth and all related equipment
  • Computer, copy machine etc.
