About the role
We are looking for an interim Payroll Specialist/HRIS Analyst to join our team in Irving, Texas on a Contract basis. This role supports payroll, benefits, and HR systems administration for a multi-state employee population, while partnering closely with HR, finance, and external vendors to maintain accuracy and compliance. The ideal candidate brings strong experience with HRIS platforms, payroll operations, reporting, and employee support in a fast-paced environment.
This is a 3-month contract position with 100% onsite work, 5 days a week in Irving, Texas.
Responsibilities
- Manage payroll processing across weekly, biweekly, and semi-monthly schedules for a workforce of more than 450 employees located in multiple U.S. states.
- Administer payroll-related updates such as tax elections, direct deposit changes, earnings adjustments, deductions, leave activity, garnishment review, and final pay calculations.
- Collaborate with HR on employee lifecycle transactions, including onboarding, separations, benefits deductions, disability cases, and record maintenance.
- Review payroll results, perform audits, and reconcile earnings, taxes, and deductions to help ensure complete and accurate payroll close and general ledger reporting.
- Work with finance to address payroll accounting questions, support bank and ledger reconciliations, and assist with reporting tied to payroll activity.
- Oversee payroll tax compliance by monitoring payments, validating filings, and helping prepare required government reporting and audit documentation.
- Support benefits administration by preparing premium reports, coordinating with carriers and brokers, and reviewing retirement plan reporting and related audit needs.
- Maintain and optimize the ADP WorkforceNow environment, generate recurring workforce analytics, and recommend process improvements that increase efficiency and data quality.
- Serve as a lead contributor or project participant for HRIS and vendor-related implementations, including benefits-related setup and other system enhancement initiatives.
- Respond to employee payroll and benefits inquiries with timely, service-oriented problem resolution.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience using ADP WorkforceNow in an HRIS and payroll environment is required.
- Proven background processing payroll for employees across multiple U.S. states, including both hourly and salaried populations.
- Strong understanding of payroll compliance, tax reporting, deductions, wage calculations, and leave-related payroll impacts.
- Experience supporting benefits administration, vendor coordination, and retirement plan or insurance reporting activities.
- Ability to perform audits, reconciliations, and payroll-related general ledger support with a high level of accuracy.
- Comfortable partnering with HR, finance, brokers, carriers, and external vendors to resolve issues and improve processes.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills, including the ability to produce workforce data and HRIS-based reports regularly.
- Effective communication and customer service skills with the ability to handle employee questions and sensitive information professionally.
