Interim Payroll Specialist

This role provides part-time support for weekly payroll processing and employee payroll inquiries, partnering closely with internal stakeholders and external vendors to ensure payroll accuracy, compliance, and a positive employee experience.

About the role

Hybrid position based in the Twin Cities Metro, MN. The ideal candidate brings strong payroll expertise, experience with Paylocity, and the ability to work independently with minimal oversight.

Responsibilities

• Process weekly payroll accurately and on schedule
• Review payroll data to ensure accuracy and completeness
• Respond to employee payroll questions and inquiries
• Partner with payroll vendors and internal stakeholders to resolve payroll issues
• Maintain payroll records and supporting documentation
• Assist with payroll audits, reporting, and reconciliations as needed
• Ensure compliance with payroll policies and applicable regulations
• Support process improvements and payroll best practices

Requirements

• Proven payroll processing experience
• Strong Paylocity experience required
• Experience managing payroll inquiries and employee support
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
• Ability to work independently in a part-time consulting capacity
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Experience partnering with payroll vendors and external partners
• Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to manage confidential information with discretion

Pay

Hourly rate between $45–$60, depending on experience.
