Responsibilities
Responsible for all payroll functions related to a specific business group, ensuring that all paychecks for that group accurately reflect hours worked, wages, and deductions. This includes verifying accuracy of accruals related to federal, state, and local taxes and fees, and ensuring that changes to payroll data are entered accurately and in a timely manner.
- Gathers information necessary to process and transmit payroll bi-weekly, including W4 and direct deposit forms, Imputed Income, retroactive pay and adjustments, and Leave of Absence calculations.
- Verifies hours worked, wages, and deductions are accurately reflected, and transmits payroll on time.
- Processes new hire, transfers, terminations, and employee changes, approximately 30-60 per payroll period.
- Processes void and manual checks as needed, approximately 30-60 per pay period, and reconciles un-cashed checks, following state escheat laws.
- Manages tips to minimum to ensure tipped employees are paid minimum wage, ATO balances, and employee time in Kronos, running the ADP/Kronos interface daily.
- Troubleshoots ADP and Kronos, runs reports for various business groups per pay period and as needed, and maintains knowledge of multi-state payroll tax and labor laws.
- Communicates with the business group in a timely manner, develops relationships with designated business group, and ensures the list of current employees is up to date and accurate.
- Gathers information, creates, and distributes reports as requested, prepares FedEx packages, and acts as a backup to fellow Payroll Specialists when they are absent or on vacation.
Requirements and Qualifications
A high school degree is required, with a BA or equivalent experience preferred. Minimum 2 years of work experience in a payroll department is necessary.
- Proficient communication skills (verbal and written)
- Able to build relationships
- Proficient math skills
- Experience using ADP Payforce and Kronos
- Word, Outlook, and advanced Excel skills
Competencies include being detail-oriented, deadline-driven, having good communication skills (written and verbal), and the ability to solve problems.
Pay
The hourly rate range for this role is $21.57 to $32.36, varying based on individual experience, knowledge, skillset, work location, and available budget.
