About the role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist to join our dynamic team. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, maintaining payroll records, and supporting audits and reporting.
Responsibilities
- Process payroll for US and Canadian employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and government regulations.
- Calculate wages, deductions, bonuses, and overtime payments.
- Maintain payroll records and ensure data integrity.
- Manage payroll-related inquiries from employees and resolve discrepancies.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
- Prepare payroll reports for management and assist with audits.
- Process and maintain records for benefits, garnishments, and retirement contributions.
- Work closely with the Human Resources and Accounting teams to ensure accurate employee data.
- Aid in HR functions as needed.
- Stay updated on changes in payroll laws and regulations.
Requirements
- 2+ years of payroll experience, preferably in a company size of 250 plus.
- Strong knowledge of payroll software (e.g., Isolved, ADP, Workday, Paycom, etc.).
- Understanding of payroll tax laws, deductions, and compliance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other reporting tools.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage confidential information with integrity.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with multi-state payroll processing.
- Familiarity with HRIS and timekeeping systems.
- Experience with expense reporting software.
- Experience with Canadian payroll processing.
