About the role
This is a full-time interim opportunity based onsite in Los Angeles, California, with the potential to transition into a permanent position. Reporting to executive leadership, the Interim Human Resources Manager will play a key role in supporting day-to-day HR operations, strengthening employee engagement, ensuring compliance, and building effective people practices that support the organization's continued growth and impact.
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day human resources operations, including employee relations, onboarding, performance management, policy administration, and HR compliance
- Partner with managers to provide guidance on employee performance, coaching, workplace concerns, and organizational best practices
- Support recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and employee engagement initiatives to attract and retain top talent
- Oversee benefits administration, leave management, personnel records, HR systems, and payroll coordination
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, nonprofit regulations, and organizational policies
- Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, documentation, and systems that enhance organizational effectiveness
Requirements
- Experience managing human resources functions within nonprofit, social services, healthcare, behavioral health, community-based, government-funded, or other mission-driven organizations
- Strong knowledge of employee relations, performance management, HR compliance, benefits administration, leave management, and employment law
- Experience supporting managers through employee coaching, workplace investigations, conflict resolution, and corrective action processes
