Interim Director of Emergency Department
Interim opportunity in Springfield, Missouri for an experienced Emergency Department leader to drive operational excellence in a 68-bed, high-volume, high-acuity ED.
About the role
Lead day-to-day operations of a 68-bed Emergency Department, overseeing seven direct reports and approximately 130 FTEs. Drive meaningful change with a focus on staffing stabilization, performance improvement, and fostering a positive, accountable culture. Use performance metrics to identify opportunities, mentor clinical supervisors, and build trust across staff and physicians. Must be available to start within 2-3 weeks of acceptance.
Responsibilities
- Lead and stabilize day-to-day ED operations in a high-volume, high-acuity setting
- Oversee seven direct reports and approximately 130 FTEs
- Spearhead performance improvement initiatives using data-driven metrics
- Develop and mentor clinical supervisors to strengthen the leadership team
- Cultivate a positive, accountable culture among staff and physicians
- Manage change in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment
Requirements
- BSN required; master’s degree preferred
- Active RN license required
- Significant Emergency Department nursing leadership experience
- Experience in high-acuity, trauma, pediatric, change management, staffing stabilization, and performance improvement preferred

Pay
Compensation range: $160,000 to $175,000 annually. Final rate determined by experience, education, training, location, internal equity, and budget considerations.
