Interim Director, Emergency Department

About the Role

An Interim Manager for the Emergency Department is needed to provide operational and clinical leadership for a transitioning freestanding emergency department and outpatient campus. Reporting to the Emergency Department Director, this leader will oversee a team supporting seven emergency department beds and a holding area. Key responsibilities include driving patient safety and quality initiatives, improving throughput, supporting workforce management and productivity, enhancing team engagement, advancing patient experience goals, ensuring regulatory compliance, and promoting financial stewardship while guiding staff through a major operational transition.

The ideal candidate will have experience leading both hospital-based and freestanding emergency departments and possess a strong background in emergency services operations, change management, and team development. Must be highly organized, patient-focused, and able to adapt quickly to changing needs. Excellent communication skills will be critical. Must be available to start within 2-3 weeks of acceptance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required; master’s degree preferred
  • Active Oregon Registered Nurse license required
  • Previous emergency department leadership experience required
  • Experience in both traditional hospital-based emergency departments and freestanding emergency department settings strongly preferred

Pay

Pay Range: $150,000 - $160,000 annually. The final compensation rate will be determined based on experience, education, training, location, internal equity, and budget considerations, in accordance with Fair Market Value evaluation.
