Interim Compensation Consultant
Worksite Location: Hybrid – West Twin Cities Metro, MN
About the Role
The Interim Compensation Consultant will provide day-to-day compensation support during a period of increased project activity and team capacity constraints. This role will focus on compensation analysis, merit and incentive planning, market pricing, benchmarking, reporting, and compensation program administration. The consultant will partner with HR and business stakeholders to ensure compensation programs are administered effectively while maintaining market competitiveness and internal equity.
Responsibilities
- Support annual and off-cycle compensation programs, including merit, bonus, and incentive initiatives
- Conduct market pricing, benchmarking, and compensation analysis for new and existing roles
- Evaluate job levels, pay grades, pay structures, and compensation recommendations
- Analyze salary survey data and provide market-based insights to stakeholders
- Support short-term and long-term incentive program administration
- Prepare compensation reports, dashboards, and workforce analyses
- Partner with HR and business leaders to address compensation-related requests and inquiries
- Create and maintain compensation documentation, reporting, and program materials
- Perform data validation, audits, and quality control reviews
- Assist with compensation projects and process improvements as needed
Requirements
- Proven compensation experience in an analyst, consultant, or compensation-focused HR role
- Strong expertise in compensation analysis, market pricing, benchmarking, and job evaluation
- Experience supporting merit cycles, bonus programs, incentive plans, and pay structures
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, complex formulas, data manipulation, and reporting
- Experience working with compensation survey and market-pricing tools (Payscale, Payfactors, or equivalent)
- Ability to interpret compensation data and develop meaningful recommendations
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data management skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder partnership capabilities
- Experience working within HRIS and compensation management systems preferred
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment

Pay
Hourly rate between $65-$75, depending on experience.
