Insurance Property Inspector
About the role
We are seeking a part-time 1099 Insurance Property Inspector in Muskegon, MI who thrives in an independent, field-based schedule. This role offers flexible hours and the opportunity to manage your own time while making a real impact.
Pay
$20–$28 per billable hour.
Schedule
Field operating hours are from 8:00 AM until 8:00 PM, or dusk (whichever is earlier), Monday through Saturday. No surveys or phone contact will be completed after 8:00 PM or on Sundays or holidays. This is a 1099 position with flexible hours, and you will dispatch daily from home with no central office reporting required.
Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site inspections of homes and businesses, capturing detailed photographs and documenting key features for underwriting decisions.
- Assess property conditions, identify potential hazards or concerns, and gather accurate data.
- Compile thorough, high-quality underwriting survey reports to support informed risk evaluation.
- Complete administrative work remotely and submit reports in a timely manner.
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel throughout your assigned territory.
- Ability to work independently while managing your own schedule and workload.
- Strong attention to detail with accurate measuring, documentation, and reporting skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office, smartphones, and Windows-based laptops.
- Ability to work comfortably outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
- Must pass a background check.
Qualifications
No specific degree is required. We value dependable, self-motivated professionals with a strong work ethic and a commitment to delivering quality work. Previous experience in any of the following areas is highly valued:
- Insurance inspections
- Real estate or property appraisal
- Home inspections
- Insurance claims adjusting
- Construction or commercial contracting
- Loss control or risk assessment
- First responder experience
