Insurance Property Inspector
Information Providers, Inc. is seeking a part-time 1099 Insurance Property Inspector in Whippany, NJ. This independent, field-based role offers a flexible schedule for motivated professionals.
About the Role
This is a 1099 position with flexible weekday hours (7 AM–4 PM, 8 AM–5 PM, or 9 AM–5 PM), dispatching daily from home with no central office reporting required. You’ll conduct on-site inspections of homes and businesses, capturing detailed photographs and documenting key features for underwriting decisions. You’ll assess property conditions, identify potential hazards, and compile thorough underwriting survey reports.
Pay
$20–$28 per billable hour.
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel throughout your assigned territory.
- Ability to work independently while managing your own schedule and workload.
- Strong attention to detail with accurate measuring, documentation, and reporting skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, smartphones, Windows-based laptops).
- Ability to complete administrative work remotely and submit reports in a timely manner.
- Willingness to learn, adapt, and continuously improve.
- Comfort working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
- Ability to pass a background check.
Qualifications
No specific degree is required. Previous experience in the following areas is highly valued:
- Insurance inspections
- Real estate or property appraisal
- Home inspections
- Insurance claims adjusting
- Construction or commercial contracting
- Loss control or risk assessment
- First responder experience
