Insurance Defense Attorney - New York PIP

About the role

This position is responsible for representing clients in all areas of PIP defense practice, handling cases that are primarily low in complexity and exposure. Manages all phases of cases from intake to resolution.

Responsibilities

• Litigates low complexity and exposure cases and performs duties necessary from intake to trial and/or settlement, including preparation of pleadings, motions, discovery, and briefs.
• Attends hearings, conferences, interviews, mediations, arbitrations, and/or trials.
• Proactively informs leadership of case handling opportunities and challenges encountered.
• Consults with the Claims Department on the legal aspects of files.
• Performs other tasks or duties to ensure efficient case management.
• May handle second chair trials and trials in cases with minimal complexity and/or exposure.
• May provide support to senior attorneys in cases of greater complexity and/or exposure and may receive developmental assignments of matters that are of moderate complexity and/or exposure.

Requirements

• Licensed to practice Law in applicable states required upon hire.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Civil litigation and/or personal/bodily injury experience preferred.
• Public speaking, ability to function in adversarial or confrontational situations, driving.

• Regular travel between Farmers offices, alternative work locations, and/or field locations may be required.

Pay

• DC/NJ/NY/OH Only: $96,075 - $174,240
• Albany County, NY/Cleveland, OH: $102,450 - $150,260
