Insurance Defense Attorney

About the role

Cozen O’Connor is seeking an associate with 4+ years of meaningful defense litigation experience to join the firm’s Charlotte office. The firm represents major domestic and foreign insurers worldwide and is a recognized leader in insurance law.

Responsibilities

• Defend bodily injury, property damage, and wrongful death claims, including premises liability, transportation, products liability, insurance coverage, construction defect, and other third‑party liability disputes.
• Draft pleadings and motions.
• Manage written discovery and write reports to clients.
• Take and defend depositions.
• Appear in court and make arguments.
• Participate in mediations.
• Prepare and assist on cases for trial.

Requirements

• 4+ years of defense litigation experience.
• Hands‑on experience in the duties listed above.
• Strong research and writing skills.
• Excellent academic credentials.
• Admission to the North Carolina Bar (required); South Carolina Bar admission is a plus.
