About the role

The Florida PIP Staff Counsel team is seeking an attorney with Florida PIP experience to join the team. Our attorneys work from home and handle in-person appearances and hearings as required. We are open to candidates throughout Florida who are comfortable traveling to in-person appearances, with the majority of cases being venued in South Florida.

Responsibilities

  • Litigates low complexity and exposure cases and performs duties necessary from intake to trial and/or settlement.
  • Prepares pleadings, motions, discovery, and briefs.
  • Attends hearings, conferences, interviews, mediations, arbitrations, and/or trials.
  • Proactively informs leadership of case handling opportunities and challenges encountered.
  • Consults with the Claims Department on the legal aspects of files.
  • Manages all phases of cases from intake to resolution.
  • May handle second chair trials and handle trials in cases with minimal complexity and/or exposure.
  • May provide support to senior attorneys in cases of greater complexity and/or exposure and may receive developmental assignments of matters that are of moderate complexity and/or exposure.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Licensed to practice Law in applicable states required upon hire.
  • Civil litigation and/or personal/bodily injury experience preferred.

  • Public speaking, ability to function in adversarial or confrontational situations, driving.
  • Strong verbal communication and listening skills.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Effective negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrates excellent judgment and decision making skills.
  • Demonstrated time management and priority setting skills.
  • Strong technical aptitude.
  • Adept and proficient at using technology to maximize efficiency in virtual, paperless environment.

Skills

  • Legal knowledge of Florida PIP laws.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
  • Experience with legal research and document preparation.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

Pay

Salary is commensurate with experience, qualifications and location.
