About the Role
Under general supervision, perform installation, maintenance, repair, and calibration of the supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system for water and wastewater facilities.
Responsibilities
- Install and repair SCADA control systems and equipment.
- Troubleshoot, install, maintain, and repair flow and metering devices, electronic instrumentation systems, and other related electronic or electromechanical equipment in water or wastewater treatment plants or distribution remote facilities.
- Troubleshoot malfunctions of computerized control devices, control and instrument loops, instruments for activated sludge systems, water treatment, and the SCADA system.
- Identify parts for replacement, maintenance, and other work required.
- Inspect equipment and systems.
- Provide preventative maintenance services.
- Test and validate results using a variety of test equipment.
- Perform duties of coworkers and subordinates as necessary to ensure continuity of operations.
- Maintain cleanliness of tools, work areas, assigned vehicle, and observe standard operating procedures and safety practices.
- Respond to user questions and furnish information.
- Respond to emergency calls for service on a call-out basis and work outside normal working hours as needed.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED or higher.
- Two (2) years of experience in the maintenance and repair of analog/digital and industrial control equipment, industrial electronics, test equipment, or computers and peripheral equipment.
- Associates or Bachelors Degree or higher may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience.
- Valid Texas Class "C" Driver's License or equivalent from another state by date of appointment.

Vacation Leave:

- >5 to 15 years of service: 5.24 hours (17 days per year).
- >15 years of service: 6.16 hours (20 days per year).
Sick Leave:
- Accrued in accordance with the Rules of the Civil Service Commission.
Accident Leave:
- Applies to occupational injuries and diseases occurring on and after the effective date of adoption.
Pregnancy Leave:
- Treated the same as any other temporary physical disability.
- Use accumulated sick leave, then unpaid leave unless choosing to use accumulated annual leave.
